Youth Centre Syöte




Syöte Youth Centre is located in Finnish Lapland at the southernmost fell area of Finland. 
Distance from the nearest airports: Oulu 145km, Kuusamo 100 km and Rovaniemi 174 km.
The distinctive natural setting of the Syöte Youth Centre offers countless outdoor opportunities throughout the year.

The island of Hailuoto

We operate a secondary location on Hailuoto, an island off the City of Oulu. The Centre is located on a ridge of the island that allows visitors to admire the sparkling sea and the wind-shaped sand dunes of the encircling Bothnian Bay.

Our activities
Our target group are young people up to 29 years old. We work with many kind of groups. We have about 6000-7000 young visitors ( young people under 29 years old) in our programs every year.

Youth Centre Marttinen

Youth Centre Marttinen is an international course, camp and tourist centre that is specialised in youth work. Marttinen Youth Centre is one of ten Finnish course and camp centres for children and young people that are funded and supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.

Accommodation


  • Youth Hotel with three separate buildings with 25 rooms and a total of 112 beds. All the rooms have a private shower + toilet and 2-6 beds.

    -All hotel buildings have a lounge where you can make yourself a cup of tea, watch some TV and spend time with your friends. A cabinet drier for wet clothes is in common use. There is a view to the lake from the porch.

  • 11 cabins with 85 beds with 3-4 bedrooms, living room with tv and DVD-player, kitchen, 2 toilets and a sauna. All the cabins have a view to a lake.

  • We have 200 bed place in 2-4 persons rooms. Accommodation is in cottages and wooden houses.

We also have play grounds for children. Great hiking routes in forests for hiking. We have a lot of opportunities for climbing: ice climbing, climb on the rocks, high rope way, indoor climbing, bouldering wall. It is even possible to get down from the old railway bridge with ropes.

Activities
we have about 20 000 young visitors( young people under 29 years old) in our programs every year

-We organize: International programs, camps, youth exchange programs, training, Voluntary service programs, nature school programs; environmental education programs and activities for school classes and youth groups, Adventure programs, recreation daysSocial youth work, Seminars, family parties and holidays 

-We also participate in international activities with trainings, seminars, Youth excahnges, camps and EVS programs

-Winter time you can ski, do a trip with kick sledges, play marling, go to snow walk trip, experience ice climbing or do winter fishing. 

-Marttinen is surrounded by lakes. It is possible to swim in the lake or go ice swimming in the winter. 

-It is also possible to do archery, art works, go fishing, do trips to national parks etc. We have a special interest for learning through adventures.

-There is a good possibility for canoeing as well as rowing a boat. At Marttinen you and your group can do a trip with pump cars at a museum railway!

Youth and Wilderness Centre Metsäkartano


Metsäkartano and surroundings



Metsäkartano is part of a national network of 10 youth centres specialized in youth work. Their function is to develop the methods used in the field of youth work, to act as centres for furthering the skills of the youth, and enable young people’s travelling domestically and abroad. The Youth Centre work together in the developing of programs and methods used in youth work, also they are cooperating in different kind of common projects. Moreover the Youth Centres serve as regional development centres for youth work and they are part of a comprehensive network of local education and serving children and youth.

-Forest Lodge Metsäpirti offers 22 beds in 6 rooms and an attractive main room with log fire, sauna and well equipped kitchen

-Lumberjack Cottage Metsäkämppä is a 26 person charming lumberjack cottage, with the best Sauna around for miles

-3 star camping site area with 55 lawned pockets with electricity, well-equipped service areas and a large indoor eating area with fireplace

Number of young people in contact with centre: Between 3000 to 4000 individual youngsters visit Metsäkartano per year, they come with their classes (around 100 campschools per year), within the context of social youthwork (Nuotta), international projects or other camps


Our activities

    Canoeing, biking, hiking, archery, wall climbing, swamp soccer, team building games, problem solving track in the woods, wilderness skills, environmental education, handicrafts (pottery, t-shirt printing, felt work etc.), overnight trip in the forest, disco…

    Cross-country ski trips, snowshoe trips, kick sled tours, winter olympics, tobogganing, archery, wall climbing, handicrafts (pottery, t-shirt printing, felt work etc.), volleyball, basketball, disco, ice fishing, alpine curling, snow sculpturing…

Metsäkartano cooperates with the schools in the area (Rautavaara in Region of North Savo), the Youthwork in the area, the other Youth Centres in Finland as well as with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Stuff: Metsäkartano employs 13,5 people full time. Throughout the year 20 people per month are averagely employed, full time staff plus part time workers. Working Fields: Reception, Maintenance, Cleaning, Kitchen, Guides, Social Work, Sales and Marketing, International Youth Work, Program Director, Executive Director

Youth Centre Hyvärilä



Hyvärilä organizes and promote different kind of events in border of youth center (like seminars, workshops, etc.), participates in activities in the youth house of Nurmes, has cooperation with schools, other youth centers and NGOs. Youth workers which are involved in all these processes encourage activities of youngsters and give an opportunity to realize it. Concerning international relations Hyvärilä currently hosts 2 volunteers (from Austria and Belarus). Their main goal is the internalization of local youngsters, they take part in any kind of activities which involve children or young people.

  • Near Hyvärilä there is lake Pielinen (the 5th biggest lake in Finland) which offers activities like swimming, canoeing, fishing or ice-skating and the forest around the area is perfect for hiking and cross-country-skiing during wintertime.

    Course Center
  • Pielis-Golf offers a 9-hole-field, a driving-range and a field for practicing. The golf course is open from May to October.


  • Accommodation: 

  1. Hotel in the main building: double rooms x 14 = 28 places
  2. Holiday apartments (6 buildings)10 persons per one = 60 places
  3. Hostel: 15 rooms (1-8 persons per one) = 67 places
  4. Pehtoori (Finn hostel): 6 rooms x 4 persons = 24 places

We also have 15 computers and Video-projectors. We have 5 meeting rooms and presentation auditoriums.

Target groups:

Hyvärilä is a part of the Finnish Youth Centre Association. Cooperation among this network is done more or less permanent. Also Hyvärilä releases different projects with local NGOs, social and public communities.As a youth centre Hyvärilä mostly aims at young people (both national and international), and as a holiday centre based on tourists from different countries like Russia, Holland, Germany, etc.








Our activities:
International youth activities, exchanges and voluntary work are of major importance at Hyvärilä. Various international youth projects are coordinated and promoted by Hyvärilä Youth Centre. These have included several European youth exchanges, seminars, youth camps and workshops, where participants across Europe and beyond have participated. Hyvärilä is active user of EU´s Youth in Action -programme, and member of the EURODESK, PLATFORM and ENYC networks. Hyvärilä provides also international youth information services for the youth in the region. Besides European cooperation, also cross -border cooperation, Nordic cooperation and the Baltic Sea cooperation are of Hyväriläs interest.

-Different kind of work with young people: hosting workshops and seminars, improving local youth work, promoting outdoor activities etc.

-Hyvärilä is visited by tourists and customers (restaurant, hotel) on weekly and daily basis.

-Film camps and the annual film festival take place at Hyvärilä’s facilities, but also private events or youth-projects are held there.

-During autumn and spring camp-schools with mainly outdoor-and teambuilding activities are offered for schools in Finland.

-Also sometimes markets and concerts are held on the area of Hyvärilä.

Nature Sports and Travel Youth Centre Piispala





Piispala is one of the 10 centres supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education. One of the main goals of the centre is to maintain the development of the local, national and international youth work and to serve as a multi-sided centre of sport activities and education. The centre is well-equipped for practicing various kinds of sports and handcrafts.

Nature, sports and travel youth centre Piispala is an amazing place to organize camps for groups of children and youth in the middle of the beautiful region of Central Finland (Kannonkoski) at the lake Kivijärvi. The centre was established in 1982 and since then it has been a favorite destination for youth camps, including international camps.

- Various children and youth groups: school camps, leisure and sports camps

- A vast number of activities varying from handcrafts to sports activities and sessions for young people (e.g. Nuotta groups)

Life in Europe 24h project (14.-28.11.2012) gives an opportunity for several international young people to share own culture, experiences in own countries with Finnish Nuotta groups and raise awareness among the Finnish young people about different youth issues internationally.
